Phoenix Sigma Chi Alumni Chapter, EST. 1906
The Phoenix Sigma Chi Alumni Chapter was chartered by the Sigma Chi Fraternity on December 18, 1906, at Phoenix, Territory of Arizona (note that Arizona didn't become a State until February 14, 1912). It's first meeting was held on January 22, 1907, at the home of Loyd B. Christy SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA 1890 located on the west side of North Central Ave. near Portland St.
The decision to join Sigma Chi was a lifelong commitment. Our experiences in college as Brothers now open doors as alumni to a life of connections to fellow Sigs beyond our Alma Mater. Phoenix ΣΧ Alumni Chapter Members benefit from our network and our Sigma Chi community through a variety of events and resources such as monthly informal "Duck" luncheons, quarterly business meetings, monthly happy hours, sporting events, various events supporting Arizona undergraduate chapters, mentorship opportunities, etc., and we encourage you to join us.
Courage · Wisdom · Integrity · High Ambition · Self-Control · Courtesy · Fidelity
Sigma Chi was founded in 1855 at Miami University, Ohio. The fraternity's core values are non-negotiable principles that define the organization. Sigma Chi's founders believed that true brotherhood could only be achieved when men with different personalities, talents, and minds came together under a common set of ideals.
Sigma Chi's mission is to develop values-based leaders who are committed to improving their character, campus, and community. The fraternity also aims to help its members become caring husbands, compassionate fathers, and community leaders.
The fundamental purpose of the Sigma Chi Fraternity is the cultivation, maintenance and accomplishment of the ideals of Friendship, Justice and Learning within our membership. They are referred to as The Three Great Aims of our Fraternity. Our brotherhood has its roots in the collegiate experience and engenders a lifelong commitment to strive to achieve true friendship, equal justice for all and the fulfillment of learning as part of our overall responsibilities to the broader communities in which we live.
Core Values, Vision, and Mission
Sigma Chi’s core values are friendship, justice, and learning. Our vision is to become the preeminent collegiate leadership development organization — aligned, focused, and living our core values. Our mission is to develop values-based leaders committed to the betterment of character, campus, and community.
“We belong to a society worthy of our highest regard and warmest affection. We are united in the strong and enduring bonds of friendship and esteem. Let us each and all so do our duty and conduct ourselves that we bring no dishonor upon our society or each other. And we may have the high and proud satisfaction of knowing that our beautiful White Cross, at once the badge of our society and the emblem of purity, will never be worn over any breast which does not beat with pure, generous, and noble emotions, and by no man who is not a man of honor.”
